For our intern communication we’ve hosted a project-page. We have there timelines, deadlines and sorted by priority to grant an efficient workflow.

There are still some problems with our template, but there are working atm three ppl on it Our coder is working on a complex download module for the website.

We’ll keep ya uptodate.

We’ve made a huge step concerning our design. At the moment we are fixing some bugs in the template for our cms. Thanks to all who have voted in our thread selfkill Design Umfrage.

Our cms-programmer warlord has begun with some features for the new site. We don’t want to wait with releasing until all features are done, but we want to show you some extra features you haven’t even think about it

Dear Community,

as you may have recognized, there is a new widget on this blog: the Status area on the right.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

We would like to keep ya informed on this blog about the current status of development of the new webversion no. 4 of selfkill.com! We will post some background infos here and you always have an overview of what we are doing.

Yesterday our programmer Warlord has set up the Core of our new Backend, the CMS (Content Management System). He also added a bridge to a backuped version of our forum so we can do some testings.

In our forum-thread about the redesign you’ve told us, that you like most the design number 3. Sorny made this design and he is on his way to implement your suggestions and ideas to make this layout even better as it is already

Urgent Maintenance

Our data center of the main server has informed us that there is a need for urgent maintenance on the infrastructure: they need to update the coreswitch. This will be happen in the night from 24th to 25th of february in the time from 3:00 till 4:00 o’clock (UTC +1h). There will be only a downtime of 6 minutes they presume.

Once again: Only the main server with the webpage and so on is affected, the soldatservers keep on running the whole time.

Upgrading of Infrastructure and Electric Power Supply

Our datacenter will upgrade their infrastructure and electric power supply. All these work is planed for the tuesday the 17th of february from 07:00 o’clock till 09:00 o’clock (UTC +1h).

The work en details:
07:00 : Preparing for the upcoming switching
07:30 : Testrun of the USV and last checkup
07:45 : Netsynchronization
08:00 : After successfull netsynchronization switching to USV
08:30 : Checking the monitoring for failures

We hope that this upgrade will give us more redundant in power supply. You know that the data center have had some problems in the past…

We have located our main server with the webpage and so on in this data center. So if anything won’t work as planed, the page won’t be reachable. This blog and - much more important - the soldatservers hosted by selfkill.com won’t be affected. So keep on playing.

Last year, we have made several changes on the website selfkill.com, especially on the completely new phpbb3 forum. We will continue this work in 2009 and want to release the new version of selfkill.com (webv4).

Downtime on 1st of December

We have received new information from our data center. Please read below:

We are replacing our core switching and routing equipment. Thereby we had to do some workings at our existing routers. These workings have already been completed but unfortunately one of our redundancy configurations did not work as planned.
This caused a downtime of one of our fiber lines on December 1st. The bad config has been repaired to ensure redundancy in the future. There may be some short (=seconds) downtimes or restrictions within the next 14 days.
These workings are absolutly necessary to ensure the future availability of our services and to make sure we will be able to provide you with more advanced services and products.
Please apologize for the trouble caused and this late newsletter concerning the latest downtime but we didn’t want to give you wrong information and it took some time to find out what exactly the problem caused.

Maintenance soldatserver server.selfkill.com

Dear customers,

we would like to inform you, that we have a maintenance at Saturday, 20.09.08 starting from 0:00 o’clock to Sunday, 21.09.08 approx. 4:00 o’clock in the morning.

This maintenance will contain the following things :

1. maintenance and extensions to our core Router
2. maintenance at our UPS (uninterruptible power supply)

This can cause short interruptions of the Internet connections and the power supply.

Switching to another Server

Dear Customer of a soldatserver hosted by selfkill.com,

we have switched to antoher machine with all customers of the server no.2. Your server is still available via http://server.selfkill.com webinterface. Only the IP has changed, but this should not be a problem, cause the domain is still server.selfkill.com

The new machine has a new (old) debian linux kernel so all your scripting should work now.

If you have any problems during all the DNS servers are updating, please feel free to use the support formular (webinterface) or contact us on http://selfkill.com.

selfkill.com main server temporary unavailable

Our Data Center, where the main server is located, have had a power problem - once again. They want to run some USV stresstests and, yeah, seems to be failed The official statement of the crew was:

“Durch einen unauthorisierten Lasttest des Usv technikers einer Fremdfirma ist das komplette Netz Lahmgelegt, wir bitte um eure Geduld” -
“Because of an unauthorized stresstest made by an USV technician from another company is the complete network powerless. Please be patient.”
-posted as an irc topic on their channel.

So we have to wait until the supporter of the Data Center have fixed the power problem…

But our soldatservers are still online, because of hosted in another data center, so you play soldat on our servers while waiting for the page
